Welcome to the world of the Oji. Your investment in and attention to this piece of sorcery will be rewarded with some of the strongest yet ethereal cold brew of your life. When your Oji arrives, we recommend setting aside a few hours to unwrap it, put it together, and get to know your machine.

How to Assemble

Assembling your Oji is easier than it looks, yet still requires a particularly satisfying level of meticulousness and an eye for detail. With its fragile glass parts, the machine comes packed within an inch of its life; you’ll want to set aside the time to unwrap it and put it together. To guide you through the process, in the video above, Blue Bottle’s expert coffee trainer Pele Aveau shows you how.

How to Brew Your Oji Slow-Drip

Oji takes well to all kinds of coffees, from the most expressive and delicate single origins to even our most robust blends, such as our Hayes Valley Espresso. The grind size is also fairly forgiving because of the prolonged brew time. Aim for roughly French press or Chemex size, a bit coarser than for a pour over but not by much. Click the video above to watch a detailed guide on how to brew Oji slow-drip.
