This holiday season, we’re spotlighting the artists and craftspeople who make beautiful objects in the cities we call home. Read on for a close look at our Bud Vase + Coffee pairing, which we created in collaboration with the New York–based small business ANK.

I love all things, not only the grand but the infinitely small: thimble, spurs, plates, flower vases...
— Pablo Neruda

Ariela Kuh makes objects whose meaning extends beyond their designated use. As she says: “I make things that I would want to live with for a long time.”

Ariela got her start while teaching at the tuition-free Fleisher Art Memorial school in Philadelphia, and was later a studio assistant to ceramic artist Julie Ahn in Brooklyn. Her handcrafted ceramic tableware can now be found in restaurants like Momofuko Ko in New York, and beyond.

We chose to pair ANK’s bud vase with our coffee for one simple reason: They are beautiful companions at the table.
